Buccal fat removal in Korea

Buccal fat is a pad of fat that sits deep in the cheek, beneath the muscles. When it is large, the lower cheeks can look full even after the surface fat is reduced. It is removed from inside the mouth, so there is no visible scar.

When it helps

  • Your lower cheeks look full or round even though you are slim
  • You are planning facial liposuction and the deep cheek fat is also large
  • Your cheeks look heavy when you smile

Combining with facial liposuction

Double Layer facial liposuction treats the superficial and deep fat layers under the skin; buccal fat sits deeper still. When both are large, the surgeon may suggest removing both in the same session under sedation.

A careful amount

Buccal fat also supports the cheek as we age, so taking too much can make the face look hollow later. The amount is decided at consultation with your age and face shape in mind.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a visible scar?

No. The incision is inside the mouth and closed with dissolvable stitches.
